Lets skip past the topic of “should a freelancer have a blog” for a moment because we all know the answer (yes). I believe the real question we should be asking is ‘how can I get more out of my blogging for my business?’ – and the answer is simple; better blogging equals better business. But why?

There are a few reasons why blogging is good for your business, but there are even more reasons (if we dig deep enough) that shows why better blogging equals better business for freelancers. I want to look over a few of those reasons in today’s article. Feel free to leave your thoughts at the end of the article – I’d love to get your input on the topic at hand.

There has been so much going on with my freelance for the past month that I’ve had little time to breathe. The lines between my work and personal life have blurred even more as I’ve been reading several great business books and listening to business podcasts on my downtime, as well as working on a huge personal project for you guys, called CodeSnipp.it. That said, up until this week, I saw very little coding time but instead spent my days doing a million other things dealing with business.

Even though development is my one and only business service, I can’t do that for 8 hours a day or I’d actually have no business to run. As freelance developers, there are several other things we should be doing both when we don’t have any client work to do and when we’re swamped. Having plenty of freelance projects is great, but if you only focus on the service part of your business, you’ll soon find yourself outdated and out of clients.

So what are some things we should be doing when we take a break from coding?

So, you’ve just decided to become a freelancer. What is the best way to get started?

Obviously, you need to apply for gigs. But, is there anything else that you should be doing for your business when you start out?

If you ask me, you should also be blogging.

New freelancers often ask how soon they should start blogging. While some experts believe that a freelancer should wait until their business is fairly well established before they set up a business blog, in my opinion, you should set up a blog for your business as soon as you can.

Blogging is a relatively low cost activity that will add value to your business for a long time to come, and in many cases blogging alone can push your business from obscurity to prosperity.

Read on for an overview of what you should be doing with your freelance blog, five ways that a blog can help your business, and a few brief recommendations on how to get started.

New Domain Name

Morning Everyone,

It official, http://www.pauldjacobs.com is mine. I figured that purchasing a domain name would give my site credibility, in addition, giving me a professional touch at the same time. I am serious about what I do, and I want my peers and clients to appreciate this fact. Now the only problem I have is writing the blog.

I juggle my time constantly, jumping from project to project, and trying to fit in a family life at the same time. Its tough going some times, like there are not enough hours in the day. The question on my lips is, how am I going to find the time to write a blog too? Well, I am aiming to write at least once a week. I want to let you know what I am working on, show examples of my work and generally keep you in the loop of my hectic schedule.

So, please keep coming back to visit to see what I am up to. I hope to be able to repost other articles too, articles that I believe are interesting or of some benefit to other freelancers.

Until I post again, keep smiling and be safe.
